Privacy Policy

This policy describes how ExportChat handles data when you use the Chrome extension, the Pro checkout and licensing flow, and our public support pages.
1. Core privacy model
ExportChat is designed so that WhatsApp conversation content is processed locally in your browser for the export you request. We do not operate a backend that receives or stores your WhatsApp conversations or exported archives.
2. WhatsApp data processed locally
When you use ExportChat, the extension may access the content you selected in WhatsApp Web, including website content, personal communications, user-generated content, message metadata, captions, images, documents, video and audio. This content is used only to perform the export and related local features you request.
We do not transmit WhatsApp messages, media, documents, chat names, WhatsApp cookies, WhatsApp tokens, WhatsApp session data, or exported ZIP files to ExportChat licensing services, Stripe, Supabase, Resend or Netlify.
3. Local browser storage
The extension uses Chrome storage for interface preferences and minimal commercial state, such as language/theme preferences, a randomly generated installation identifier, opaque Pro session state and validation timestamps. Temporary login secrets use session-scoped browser storage where supported. WhatsApp content is not stored as licensing state.
4. Pro purchase and licensing data
If you purchase or activate ExportChat Pro, we process the minimum commercial information needed to deliver and secure the license, including purchase/sign-in email address; payment/order identifiers, payment status, currency and amount; product entitlement and version scope; a random installation identifier; and login/session identifiers, hashed authentication secret material where applicable, and validation timestamps.
Payment card details are collected directly by Stripe on Stripe-hosted checkout and are not collected by the extension.

6. Analytics, advertising and sale of data
ExportChat does not include advertising tracking, behavioral profiling, telemetry, third-party analytics, or automatic crash-report uploads. We do not sell WhatsApp content or commercial identity data.
7. Diagnostics
Any diagnostic package exposed by the extension is generated locally, sanitized and shared only if you choose to share it. It is not uploaded automatically.
8. Retention
We do not retain a server-side history of your exported WhatsApp conversations. Commercial purchase and entitlement records may be retained as needed to operate the purchased license, prevent abuse, provide support, and satisfy payment/accounting or legal obligations. Login and session records are retained as operational/security records and may be expired or revoked.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, minimum browser permissions, local processing for WhatsApp content, hashed one-time authentication material on the licensing backend, and scanner-safe explicit confirmation for email sign-in links.
10. Your choices and requests
You may contact us to ask about commercial account data associated with your purchase email, including correction or deletion requests where applicable. Some transaction records may need to be retained for legal, fraud-prevention, accounting or dispute purposes. Deleting licensing data may make it impossible to restore Pro access.
11. Third-party services
WhatsApp Web, Stripe and other third-party services have their own privacy practices. ExportChat is not responsible for those independent services.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when the product or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
